Miracle on 34th Street: a Live Radio Play

  • Timpanogos Valley Theater 90 North 100 West Heber City, UT, 84032 United States (map)

Come back to the KTVT studio for our annual Live Radio Play! This year we will be producing Miracle on 34th Street! Sweet, bearded Kris Kringle fills in for an intoxicated Santa at Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade. His sensational performance leads to regular appearances at the chain’s main store, but things get interesting when he claims to actually be Santa Claus, sparking questions (and a court case) about his authenticity, and his mental health. This touching Christmas Classic speaks to audiences of belief, family, kindness, generosity, and the true meaning of Christmas and questions the nature of belief in the face of cynicism.

Cast

Kara Charlesworth Doris Walker Kara is overjoyed to return to Timpanogos Valley Theater and share the stage with her daughter, making this production of Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play extra special. She finds great joy in mentoring young performers and fostering their love of theater. Kara loves all aspects of theater and is passionate about its power to inspire, educate, and bring community together. She thanks her family for their love and support—I love you, Brian, Lyla, Everly, and Violet!
Lyla Charlesworth Susan Walker Lyla is delighted to step into the role of Susan in Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play—a role made even more magical by sharing the stage with her mom. Some of her favorite roles include Bielka in Fiddler on the Roof (where she even learned to play the violin!), Isabel in Imagine and Dragon, a Narrator in Aladdin, and performing with the Children’s Choir in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, where she also had the exciting chance to meet Donny Osmond! A devoted singer, Lyla joined the world-renowned Rise Up Children’s Choir at age six and has been a proud member ever since. She has performed at venues across Utah and has sung alongside acclaimed artists such as GENTRI, Jon Schmidt and Yahosh Bonner. She has also appeared in numerous music videos. When she’s not performing, Lyla enjoys playing games on her iPad, creating art, and spending time with her cousins. She hopes your hearts are filled with Christmas cheer as you enjoy the show!
Gary Harter Kris Kringle Gary has been on the stage and in the very bones of TVT for years, having performed in each of TVT's radio plays and other productions such as The Secret Garden all that way back to The Music Man in 2006, and many more.

Some of his favorite TVT productions include Little Women— as Laurie, The Hunchback of Notre Dame— as St. Aphrodisius, and The Girl in the Yellow Dress— which he directed and co-wrote. Christmas is Tal's favorite time of year. He hopes this season we can all renew our commitment to treat one another with compassion. Whether it’s the Facebook friend whose posts annoy you, the stranger who cuts you off on the road, or the relative who always talks politics at Christmas dinner. We all deserve the benefit of the doubt.

She finds endless inspiration in the beauty of this valley and the incredible people who call it home, and she is grateful for a community that passionately supports local businesses and the vibrant arts and culture scene in Heber Valley.
