Newsies Jr Camps A and B

When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions.

~NOTE: We will be running 2 separate Newsies Jr camps. Double check your dates to make sure that you register for the correct camp!~

First Come First Serve Registration: Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 am

All children who have registered for the camp will be cast. Auditions are for cast placement and the experience of auditioning only.

Camp A:

AUDITION INFO: We will be holding video auditions and in person callbacks by invitation. All children who have registered for the camp will be cast. Auditions are for cast placement and the experience of auditioning only.

  • Start your audition video by stating your name and the song you will be singing. Then sing 16-32 bars (approx 30 seconds) of a song from a stage or movie musical. After singing, share a 15-30 second poem or monologue. Please make sure your voice can be clearly heard in both the song and monologue.

  • When your video is ready, upload it to either Youtube as "unlisted" (NOT private) or Google Drive with "anyone with the link" access. Send a link to your video to newsiesjrtvt2026@gmail.com. Include which camp and your name in the subject line, as well as the body of the email. EX: Newsies Jr Camp A, Sarah Ray Audition

Audition videos are due by the end of the day Saturday, May 2.

CALLBACKS: If you need to be seen at callbacks, you will receive an email invitation on or before Thursday, May 7. Callbacks will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 2:00-5:30 pm.

Camp Dates: July 6-18
Rehearsal Time: M-F 9am-1:30pm
Performances: Friday July 17 at 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm, Saturday, July 18 at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm

Camp B:

Camp Dates: July 20-Aug 1
Rehearsal Time: M-F 9am-1:30pm
Performances: Friday July 31 at 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm, Saturday, Aug 1 at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm

These camps tend to fill up very quickly (sometimes within minutes of registration opening). A non-refundable registration deposit will need to be paid at the time of registration. You will receive an invoice for the remaining tuition amount, which will be due before each camp begins. The total tuition cost for each camp is $200 for the first child in a family, and $185 for each additional child in the same camp.

Please register each child for only one camp on registration day. Subsequent registrations will be deleted. If more spots remain after 1 week, we will allow children to register for a second camp in their age group if they desire.

The story follows teenage Robert Adams as he navigates the difficult transition from childhood to adulthood—with unexpected guidance from a mysterious little girl in a yellow dress only he can see.

Our ArtSmarts Summer Bootcamps for 2025 will be:

  • Elephant and Piggie (Ages 6-11), running from June 2-14, 2025 (Registration link)
    Elephant & Piggie will be directed by Sarah Ray
    Total Spaces Available: 40
    Auditions: Saturday May 3 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am
    Rehearsals: Monday - Friday 10:00 am to 1:00 pm from June 2-12
    Performances: Friday, June 13 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, June 14 at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm

  • Beetlejuice, Jr (Ages 12-18), running from June 16-28, 2025 (Registration link)
    Beetlejuice, Jr will be directed by Maggie Scott
    Total Spaces Available: 45
    Auditions: Saturday May 10, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with callbacks by invitation from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
    Rehearsals: Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm from June 16-26
    Performances: Friday, June 27 at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Saturday, June 28 at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm

  • Mary Poppins, Jr (Ages 10-18), running from July 7-19, 2025 (Registration link)
    Mary Poppins, Jr will be directed by Roy Buttermore III
    Total Spaces Available: 45
    Auditions: VIDEO auditions due May 3 with callbacks by invitation on May 10 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm
    Rehearsals: Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm from July 7-17
    Performances: Friday, July 18 at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Saturday, July 19 at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm

Our summer bootcamps will fill on a first-come, first-served basis, and once registration is full a wait list will be available.

Registration will open at 10:00 am on April 12, 2025. Please note: Each show has its own registration link. It is very important that you register for the correct production.
